Mr. Thompson originally came to St. Joseph’s School in August 2000 and taught fourth grade. He left and taught in a public elementary school but returned after a couple of years to SJA. When he returned, he taught middle school language arts. He left and moved to Pensacola to become a principal at Sacred Heart Cathedral School. He had to move without his wife and child and after two years he returned to Lakeland to be home with his family and taught in a public middle school. He missed teaching in a Catholic school and wanted to return to the school he loved, SJA. Mr. Thompson teaches middle school social studies and religion. He has experience in youth ministry, as a retreat director, camp director at San Pedro Scripture Camp, and a teacher at Sylvan Learning Center.
Mr. Thompson holds a B.S. in Elementary Education, and a M.Ed in Educational Leadership. He is certified in Social Science (5-9), Language Arts, 6-12, Elementary Education (1-6), English as a Second Language (K-12), and Educational Leadership (K-12). He also possesses a master certificate in the Diocesan Catechetical Certification Program.
